Born in El Paso Texas, Erika lived in Leesburg with her husband of 17 years, Jeremias Serna, and their two daughters.
A GoFundMe for the family had raised more than $22,000 as of Wednesday, May 24.
"She was one of the most energetic, positive, and gracious people we’ve ever known," writes campaign founders Christi Johnson.
"For anyone who has met Erika, you would immediately feel her warmth and kindness surrounding you, even on some of her hardest days. Erika would always take the time or be first in line to help anyone who needed it."
Funds raised will go toward supporting Erika's oldest daughter's college tuition. Other donations will go toward paying off medical bills, funeral expenses, and anything else the family needs financially.
